Pancakes for breakfast

Pancakes are common to many peoples throughout the world. Pancakes were special in medieval Europe. That’s when the tradition of Pancake Day began.

Pancake Day is the last day before Lent, a period of 40 days before Easter. American pancakes probably arrived with the earliest English and Dutch settlers, whose pancake traditions dated back to at least the fifteenth country.

It is a thin cake made from a batter of eggs, flour and milk, cooked on both sides in a frying-pan or on a griddle and traditional in many parts of the world.

The pancake is an ideal medium for sweet or savory fillings and topping. Pancake may be served as a breakfast dish, as a main dish for lunch or dinner, or even as a desert.

Good pancakes are light, slightly spongy in texture and light golden brown in color.
