Energy in food is measured in calories. Foods which are high in fat contain a lot of calories, so cutting down on fatty foods is one way of losing weight. Very sugary foods also contain quite a lot of calories, but fat contains about twice as many calories as sugar per 100 g.
A low-fat eating plan and daily exercise can:
•Lower blood cholesterol
•Help to maintain a healthy weight
•Assist in maintaining normal blood glucose
•Lower blood pressure
The low-fat diet restricts fat intake to 40-60 grams (g) of fat/day by limiting high-fat food and beverage sources. The low-fat diet is intended for use by individuals who have maldigestion or malabsorption of fat, such as small bowel resection, pancreatic disease, gastroparesis, fatty liver, or gallstones.
How to develop healthy eating habits?
•Eat different kinds of foods in each of the food groups.
•Do not skip meals.
•Eat slowly and enjoy food.
•Eat smaller amounts of foods.
•Drink 6-8 glasses of water each day.

What does the term "diet" mean? The definition of a diet as the complete oral consumption of nutrients and non-nutritive substances is comprehensive yet lacks specificity. It is defined by the typical composition and allocation of nutrients and foods ingested by an individual or a specified group.
